The purpose of roof ventilation is to equalise the temperatures inside and outside the roof space throughout the year.
Proper measured roof ventilation is used to control the ambient temperature through the roof space.
Ambient temperatures play a major role in personal comfort within the home (ambient temperature ie: the temperature of the surroundings).
OBJECTIVE – To expose the roof space to the ambient air, to dry, cool, freshen and ventilate.
Anything else is a compromise!
WHAT NOT TO DO
Do not have ceiling vents, fans or kitchen vents that open into the roof space. Ceiling vents if used must be ducted to the outside atmosphere).
Ceiling vents that open into the roof space are a serious health hazard as toxic mould spores, dust and insulation fibres will be allowed to enter the home and compromise the health of the occupants. Mould spores grow best in damp and poorly ventilated areas are airborne causing many respiratory tract and other health related problems. Also air infiltration from the enclosed space further compromises the ventilation of the roof space.
OUR VENTILATORS ARE SYSTEMS NEEDING NO OTHER SOURCE TO INDUCE AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE
No other ventilator works in this way – some depend on ceiling vents that are open to the roof space. They are just a unit within themselves and depend on other avenues to induce air, it does not matter how big they are or what is inside them they simply do not work they will need eaves vents that only depend on rising air they do not induce air into the roof space.
WHAT TO DO
Have a proper measured roof ventilation system that incorporates the use of inlet and outlet vents for balanced airflow within the roof to equalise the ambient temperature to the roof space.
OUR SYSTEMS ARE THE ONLY VENTILATORS THAT CAN DO THIS
Without depending on other products such as eaves vents or ceiling vents. You will discover our roof ventilators are proven to save you real money on energy costs – guaranteed you will love how easy they are to install. Better for your health, giving you really effective results.
CARRY A GUARANTEE NO OTHER VENTILATOR CAN GIVE
Our guarantee – our ventilators will not leak, will not blow out, will last the life of your roof or longer (must be installed to our provided instructions).
The two fundamental benefits of an effective roof ventilation system are:- a cooler house in summer and a dryer roof space in winter.
You may find the following information useful.
Anything else is a compromise!
IF YOU ARE BUILDING THIS SHOULD NOT COST YOU ANY EXTRA MAKE SURE YOUR BUILDER DOES THE FOLLOWING OR YOUR ARCHITECT INCLUDES THIS IN THE SPECS
- If you must have downlights make sure they are sealed at the ceiling so as not to allow leakage from the enclosed space and demand they do not use the type that overheat. Use 240 volt compact fluorescents.
- All the following should be ducted to the outside atmosphere. All protusions through the ceiling such as ceiling vents, kitchen fans, bathroom fans or any like protusions such as fluros, plumbing protusions or air conditioning or heating ducts through the ceiling should be sealed for leakage from the enclosed space.
- Any light fitting electrical wiring or any other protusion through the ceiling is sealed for leakage from the enclosed space into the roof space.
By sealing the enclosed space from the roof space means that your home will be much healthier and you will limit the access of heat from and to the roof space.
This will enable your ventilation system to give you much greater results giving you a cooler house in summer and a dryer roof space in winter. Giving you extra savings on energy costs. Making sure this is done during the building process will save a lot of money down the line.
